Desmodium adscendens is a herbaceous perennial plant with vine to erect stems that often fork from the base and can become slightly woody. The stems sometimes take root in the lower knot. Plants can grow up to 100cm tall. This plant has a long history of medicinal use in America and continues to be used today. It is highly valued as a treatment for asthma and allergies. Usually harvested from the wild and often traded.
