On this occasion I would like to share a post of flower kersen that I met in the Aceh-Indonesian forest.Has a Latin name (Muntingia calabura) commonly known as Kersen, series, cherries, and others. It has small and sweet fruit and is bright red in color, so in some areas it is called cherry.Besides humans, cherry fruit is also very popular with animals such as birds.

According to the article I read, this plant comes from tropical America (southern Mexico, the Caribbean to Peru and Bolivia). Kersen was brought into the Philippines at the end of the 19th century, until it spread throughout tropical Asia. This species is found in the western part of Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java and Kalimantan. Kersen grows wild in open areas and open hills, on roadsides, on river banks and in well-drained lowlands, and on sandy clay soils. Kersen grows in clusters and spreads, generally grows at an altitude of up to 1,000 meters above sea level, grows well in soil pH 5.5-6.5. Kersen is widely planted as a fruit tree and protector. In Indonesia, cherry fruit is traditionally used to treat gout by consuming 9 grains of cherry fruit 3 times a day, this has been proven to reduce pain caused by gout. Cherry fruit is very popular in Mexico, so it is sold in large quantities in traditional markets, cherry fruit can also be preserved and made jam like in Sri Lanka.
Cherry fruit can be consumed directly and can also be processed into fresh cherry fruit syrup. Cherry leaves can also be processed into tea which is very nutritious for the health of the body.
The method of making it is quite simple, just dry the cherry leaves and then brew them with hot water. Hot water that was clear will turn out to be like tea water in general. Cherry leaf brewed water is efficacious in lowering high blood pressure.
The nutritional content of cherry fruit is not inferior to other fruits such as mangoes. The vitamin C content of mangoes is 30 mg, while the cherry fruit is 80.5 mg, the calcium content of the cherry fruit is 124.6 mg, much more than the mango which is only 15 mg.
