Still life Photography - "Time" collection, and diverse styles showcased!

in WORLD OF XPILAR4 years ago (edited)

hi!

one of my faviorite genres of photography has too be "still life" photography. a still life is a work of art that focuses on inanimate subjects, most of the time commonplace. but your efforts as a hotographer go in to making the right setting, lighting, getting the perfect frame. and through that create a visual expirience that ignites an emotion or a feeling.

try shooting the same subject in diffrent ways, settings or arrangements. and do expiriments in the "after-work". see this pocket antique pocket watch.

"time I"

the notable change here is the backround, one it shot on a woodern table while for the second photo, i had placed the subjet. the watch. on a black carved stone coaster.

"time II"

the third piece of todays display. i have done "all-in ball-in" on the digital afterwork.

"time III"

also i encourage you to both expiriment and make photo´s in many diffrent styles, that way you develope "your style" and make it more diverse. and it really is good to exercise the creative muscle coing up with new compositions.

a good still life is a great asset in evry photographers portfolio. here are some "diffrent styles" of mine.

"lena"

lena.jpg

this photo is named "lena". its named in honour of my best friend lena. since it was shot while staying at her house and going through some pretty tough times. it reminds me of her grace! beuty and mercy, as well as strength and passion, the fact that the rose is dry. depicts the "endlessness" of real friendship.

the next image is a complete reverse from the simplicity of the rose, it´s a lot more "punk"... "aggressive" in maybe a "creepy" way. or if you have the humour for it, it´s verry funny.
i named it "the serb", as the mask comes from serbia, and it´s verry eastern european in theme.

"the serb"

then we have verry diffrent photos, both having pretty much the same after work. thhis one i actually hot after my neighbour went "berserk" and broke his guiar on the floor, on the floor above me.. it´s "real", but "dreamy".

"after the anger passes"

This dreamy semi lucid image was shot when i slept over at my grandmothers house, and ofcourse bears the title...

"lucid"

and then at last, two still - lifes shot this year, after my life and luck are changing. i shoot them both at my new girlfriends house, early this year. full of hope and optimism. the thing they have in common is "pink", but both i feel are cheery and "delightful" as well as the later one is full of "safety".

try thinking of "feelings" tat you want for your still life project, as you shoot. but also when seeing the final result. it is great to use these feelings for "tags" later if you publish your work through a big internet database.

"nelly-fur-tado"

and then. last but always first for me, a piece named after my beutyful, kynd, creative, inteligent, smart and super sexy new girlfriend, amanda.

"amanda"

if you are interested in photography but dont´ know where to begin. still life might be the answer as you can use what is around you, and it really does not require fancy equipment. a decent camera or new smart phone are enough. i encourage you to try it out and post your results.

thank you evryone for reading i hope that you have learned a little bit, gotten inspiered or at least enjoyed my varius still lifes,

wich one is your faviourite? please tell me in the comments.

have a great day and stay safe!

italy i have no pictures of im afraid of. but i can "covid come up with something", maybe a good still life with some tourist statues my girlfriend brought from there, a pizza / pasta related image :) i might come up with something . :)
