The Yug River Bridge

The Yug River flows through the village of Kichmengsky Gorodok in the South-East of the Vologda region of Russia. I used to think that the name of the river came from the name of the cardinal point, but this turned out not to be the case. The word "yug" in the ancient Finno-Ugric language means "river".

If there is a river, then there must be a bridge across it.

The Yug River Bridge was renovated last year.

With these photos, I want to show the place from where I shot the village on a frosty night.

It was minus thirty-five outside.

And the fog is nothing more than the smoke from the chimneys that spread over the bridge.
