Onbovo

Onbovo is a village in the Velikoustyugsky district of the Vologda region. It is part of the Samotovinsky rural settlement. The distance by road to the regional center of Veliky Ustyug is 2 km, to the center of the Novator municipality - 5 km.

The village is located on the opposite bank of the Sukhona River from Veliky Ustyug, next to the bridge across the river.

If historically and briefly, then along the village there is a former backwater

Onbowo is a residential village and consists of almost thirty houses located on one side of a single street along the coastline.

Basically, there are ordinary classical huts, but there are also two one-story panel barracks.

Garages or sheds were often placed on the edge of the cliff.

A bridge is visible in the distance, and below the contours of a snow-swept boat are visible.

Previously, the backwater was always filled with water, since with developed navigation, the bottom was deepened here.

Now the water reaches a maximum of half of the backwater, the rest is swampy or completely overgrown.

The street in Onbowo is straight, but there is a slight bend in the middle of the village - there used to be a residential building here, but due to its dilapidation, it was demolished.

Luckily, I still have it in the archive photo.

In general, every year the desire to publish archival photographs increases.

But it will need to attach such stories that will be of interest to everyone.

The streets in the area are now so well lit that it's disgusting. Usually I'm looking for darkness or color, and now only white LEDs. Ugh!

Now back to childhood memories.

This village used to be part of my favorite winter hiking route.

I started my walk from the center of the city, passed through the frozen river, then through this village, and returned over the bridge back to the city.

Now it's impossible to do...

The fact is that the village is adjacent to one of the bases of the timber industry. Until recently, there was a free pedestrian passage through the base, but now it has been blocked off.

And there is no alternative way towards Dobrynino, Dymkovo, and then Veliky Ustyug.

That is, if you live in Onbowo and want to go to the grocery store, then you will have to make a huge detour or even walk to the city along the bridge, and not to the neighboring village.

Maybe in the summer you can somehow go through the fields, but in the winter I did not find any trails.

In general, I would not live in this village, even if I had a car. It's kind of uncomfortable here.
