RE: Earth's Thirsty Embrace
Interesting... DIY air cooler?
These are commercially made here and are very common. I have a ceiling fan in the kitchen too but with burners on we can't turn on fans or blowers - they disrupt the flame.
Of course, there are also commercial devices. However, they are very expensive and consume a lot of electricity. The coolant is also another environmental sin. For really hot days, the idea works really well and is easy to improvise.
The ventilated air flow goes directly into the box; the outflowing air is then distributed in the room by thermodynamics without much fuss - so there should be no problem with open flames...
I admit, this system looks better than typical air coolers which are very... windy. The outflowing air shouldn't cause much disruption. I will have to try it out. There will be space issues too but if it works then something can be done about placement too. ;-)
