Studies of color - Studies of masters of painting nº 1

Hello everyone ! I'm back to continue sharing more of my work and training in art. Today I bring you the first of a series of digital paintings that is part of a study of masters of the art world. This is a very useful exercise for anyone looking to improve their artistic skills, in this case painting.

As a reference for this study I have used a work of the painter Toulouse Lautrec, of French origin, who had a period of activity between 1880 and 1900. The work of this painter is characterized by being somewhat unique in terms of his style of brushwork, the gestures of his strokes and the way of applying color that allowed him to generate scenes of atmospheres of scenes frozen in time in the Paris of the IXX century. The recurring themes in his work were about life among the bourgeoisie and the dance and music shows and brothels. Being Lautrec of the bourgeoisie this brought him a little prejudice regarding his work at that time, however this was not an impediment for the artist to carry out his work and bohemian life to which he ended up getting used to. The painting that I took for the study of this exercise is called "The bed" where Toulouse demonstrates a mastery with the use of color and the capture of the moment through the form and versatility of the brushstroke, creating an almost dreamlike or perhaps magical atmosphere.

The technique used to make this digital painting is mixed media, which consists of creating the drawing in pen on opaline cardboard and then scanning and coloring it digitally.
