What A Face 🤪
Hi Steemians, the inspiration for this content is the lemon tree in @germansailor's post (👈 you can visit it here) 🤗 There is a lemon tree in my garden. One day while picking lemons, I saw this unusual lemon and was shocked! This lemon tree is about 10 years old and this is the first time I see such a strange lemon 😮
I've heard before that in the United Kingdom people don't buy deformed fruits because of their shape. A project called "What a face" was started in this country so that these fruits would not be wasted. This project was accepted sympathetically and became popular. Thus, a step has been taken against food waste. Inspired by this project, I named my lemon "What a face🤪".

Firstly, I took photos of it right away. I didn't want to pluck it and decided to observe its development. This lemon is the lemon I spend the most time in my life 😄 If someone was watching me, I'm sure they didn't understand 😅 I waited for about 1 month without separating it from its tree. I guess I'm a patient person🙃
After 1 month, I saw that the middle of it was moldy and it fell into my hand as I held it with my hand. The moldy state of lemon is as you can see in the photo below. Honestly, it hasn't changed much in 1 month.
I love this photo🥰 Doesn't it look like an octopus holding my hand 😊 Another interesting part was seeing the inside after cutting it. Each arm had pieces of lemon. So it wasn't empty. This was the story of What a Face 😜
Actually, what I'm wondering is, do you have any fruits and vegetables that have such a strange shape?
Thank you 🤗

Hello @enveng. I have several friends in Ukraine, and I wonder about the feasibility of their travelling and staying in Turkey for a few months. I know that Ukraine is visa-exempt for less than 90 days.
How much does it cost to rent a place where you are? How much does it cost per day per person for food? I don't know if my friends would be allowed to "vacation," but I am working out a contingency plan. It might only be possible to fly their children out (the older ones must be around 14 now).
Russia is doing something nasty right now. Four of the schools in Cherkasy (where my friends live) were mined with bombs. So far, there have been over 600 bombs planted in Ukraine, including schools and shopping centers
Unfortunately, you and @ozenozge are the only people I have connections with within Turkey. As part of my continency plan, could I trick the two of you into acting as my liaison? I never had problems communicating with these families in English, but I cannot anticipate how they would be if they needed to remain in Turkey for 1-2 months.
Hi David, I hope I can help you. I'll answer it in detail when I have time.
I hope things are going well for you. I am always interested in your endeavours.
Dear David,
Unfortunately, the situation is very sad. I would like to help as much as I can. Since there is a war situation at the moment, I have no information about how processes such as visa and accommodation work. But like I said, I'd love to help.
Fortunately, Ukrainians can go to Turkey with no visa for 90 days. My priority is to get my friends safe. I can fly ten people to Turkey for the price it takes to fly one person to Canada. Are there places to rent in your area? I might need you or @enveng to open a US dollar bank account to send money to, to pay for their expenses. At least the unspoken practices are similar between Ukraine and Turkey.
When my ex-sister-in-law came to Canada from Laos, they were dumped off in a motel with no explanation about anything. It is an interesting to listen to her describing how she perched on the toilet because Laotian toilets are a hole between two footpads. The flipside to that story was when their family all returned to Laos they found her nephew with two legs sticking out from underneath a washroom door. He was sitting on the footpads.
I don't know if anyone can even leave the country but I like to be prepared. I am glad I have friends in Turkey to rely on if necessary.
Never have I seen such a strange shaped lemon
Also, these are not things you can expect perfection from
Enjoy it if it has good fruit, the shape is only one aspect of the fruit
Did the juice taste sweet? I'm not sure if you tried it
Yep, me too. This was the first time I'd seen such an unusual shape. You're right about perfection, agree 👍 Since it is my own tree, I know that there are no chemicals in it. Therefore, I ate without hesitation. It wasn't too sour, even sweet a bit. I liked it very much 😊
This lemon is really strange, but that feeling that all fruits have to be perfect is given to us by the supermarket, but the reality is that not all fruits or vegetables in nature are that perfect, in this plant world, all are perfect or not, they have their nutrients.
You're right, the shape of the fruit doesn't have to be perfect. There are so many things we accept without question 🤷🏻♀️
I have seen fruits and vegetables that have strange shapes, but not as much as the one in your photo, the fact that they are that way does not make them less fruits and vegetables.
Yes, this looks pretty unusual but you are right, fruit is fruit 👍
Nature is unpredictable, the first time I see a lemon tree with fruits with such unique characteristics. Thank you.
You're right, nature has the power to surprise us 😀
Although products without defects are sometimes associated with being fresher, the reality is that the defects that some fruits and vegetables have do not affect their good eating qualities. The only way in which these products should not be consumed is when their defects are morphological or physiological, that is, their alterations are cellular or at the level of their tissues, one of the causes that produces this type of alteration is radioactivity.
You mentioned a very important point. Shape deformation is not a problem, the real problem is cellular deformation. Since this is the tree in my garden, I know its fertilizer. I hope there is no problem that I am not aware of.
That's nature
Yes, it is sometimes unpredictable 🤷🏻♀️
Lemons are very beautiful, grow very fertile, juice water must be very good. @enveng.
Yes, it is. Thank you 🙂
