Pencil drawing, New Competition (No.2): SEA SHELLS

Hi everybody,

for the @xpilar drawing contest, this time I try to draw two sea shells.

I used a pencil and eraser.

Steps

First, I outline the profile of both shells.

For the shell in the foreground I draw the vertical lines and try to round them. Then I draw some horizontal lines trying to create small arcs, I start darkening the lower part of the shell.

Then complete by marking the shadow lines even more and trying to round them further.
For the shell in the background I draw rounded lines, some lighter and some darker.

Then I draw intersecting lines and try to create a slight spiral.

I darken the lines more and round them a little.

Finally I create the shadow under the shells, draw some pebbles and lightly pass the pencil to create the sand.
