Photo contest: post processing #17 - saving cat
"Not to catch up, so warm up" - there is such a saying or proverb. I know even less about this than I do about the styles of photography, but I hope that all the incidents I have committed will be forgiven for choosing a model.
This photo is almost the original, but the original was very much overexposed, and therefore I turned down the light as much as possible without touching the darkness. The light could not give up at all, because there is almost no information in the over-illuminated areas.
I rate this photo as a story shot or as a "photo for a home album", which has no chance of claiming to be artistic or reportage, or anything else.
But nothing prevented me from trying to give it creativity by cropping it into a square format and elevating it to the rank of minimalism. Whether this photo is good or bad, but it meets the requirement of a square format, as a style and the laws of the genre: a minimum of details and a lot of content. The viewer understands that the cat is now experiencing bliss, basking in the rays of the sun.
Converting the image to black and white and increasing the contrast added creativity to it, and I was satisfied, that's why I'm showing you.
But this story did not end with the appearance of a cat in the opening of this attic door. The cat disappeared into the darkness, and I was about to leave, but then the kitten appeared exactly in the place where his mother had just been and made me smile by hurriedly opening the camera.
The same transformations were applied to the original with the kitten and it makes no sense to describe them, but...
But for the finale, I decided to combine these two photos in general of one living moment into a diptych, which is the style or form of presentation of the work. The diptych appears from a material that is difficult to limit to a mono-image, when there was some kind of story and such an expanded form is required for its presentation.
I understand that the conditions of the contest require working with one image, but I got bored with it, and I decided to break all the rules by organizing my contest post in this way. Photos of a kitten and a cat, in principle, are not much different, but it became more fun with this little family :)

The fun continues :))
Apparently I will have to seriously start studying the genres of photography, their essence and features. The further the party goes, the more I realize how little I know about photography...
Maybe it makes sense to arrange genre parties? :) This will help us to study the issue more deeply... maybe...
I definitely like the diptych, a story for two generations))
=====================

Of course you can't separate mother and... Son (?) ;-))
Natürlich kannst Du Mutter und... Sohn (?) nicht trennen ;-))
