Hello my dear Steemians, I am here to answer

WOX Travel Contest | Week 20 By @o1eh

Today I will take you to one of the oldest cities of India, Mathura the city of Lord Krishna which has an important position in Hinduism. The city of Mathura-Vrindavan, in north India and is widely known all over the world for its intricately beautiful temples and well-maintained gardens is considered to be the playground of Lord Krishna.

Let me warn you some of my pictures might alarm you but I have presented them as I saw them. I have done no editing with these pictures to glorify them.

It's believed that Mathura is the oldest city in this part of India, and the architecture of temples like Banke Bihari and Rang Nath Ji Temple is a symbol of a rich representation of glorious ancient legends passed down through centuries in India.

DSC08846.JPG

I visited the most famous temple of Mathura, Dwarkadheesh, at 6 in the morning, and it was full of devotees. I do not visit religious places for any faith, and I was impressed with its structural beauty and grandness.

DSC08834.JPG

The city of Mathura is situated on the banks of the Yamuna, due to which this river holds immense importance in this city. The Yamuna River has a deep connection with Lord Shri Krishna.

This temple is close to the Yamuna, which has as much religious value as the Ganges, and I could see a number of ancient temples on the Yamuna's banks. The Banks of the Yamuna are too old, and they have a different architectural style.

The Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan which is just 12 km away from Mathura is known for its luxurious ambiance and religious decorations. This place attracts tourists from all over the world.

Vrindavan

Vrindavan has many tourist attractions to enjoy, including Shri Krishna Balaram Temple, widely known as an ideal place to attain a sense of positivity. Tourists come from different corners of the world to enjoy this place.

A refreshing adventure, the places in Vrindavan serve as an admirable destination for a spiritual devotee, an intellectual, a historian, or anyone in search of inner peace. A visit to Vrindavan is an absolutely necessary journey for followers in their lifetime.

Of all the deities that have been described in Hinduism, only Krishna is considered to be the incarnation of the most visible deity among all those deities.

Vrindavan is full of Krishna's childhood pastimes. Vrindavan is located just a short distance from Mathura, the birthplace of Krishna, which is famous for his Baal Kand.

Vrindavan is mainly famous for the childhood of Krishna. Vrindavan is also called the land of Krishna or as he wanted to see the world as a child. Many Krishna devotees of the Hindu religion come to Vrindavan throughout the year. Vrindavan reminds me of Lord Krishna. It is considered a very sacred place for Hinduism.

Devotees who go there say that even today, the sound of the flute is still heard in Vrindavan. People stay in Vrindavan for many nights to listen to this sound. The tallest temple in India, called Prem Mandir, dedicated to Krishna and Radha, is located in Vrindavan. Lord Shri Krishna was born in Mathura, which is located at a distance of 12 km from Vrindavan.

DSC08803.JPG

You will find many such temples in Vrindavan, in which unmatched workmanship has been done.

Vrindavan has a lot of historical heritage, hundreds of ashrams, and many cow shelters. Vrindavan is also called the city of widows because of the presence of many widows' ashrams here. A large number of widows live here. Vrindavan is famous as a major Hindu site with its temples and beautiful surroundings.

Vrindavan is very popular for the childhood love of Krishna. We all know about the love story of Krishna and Radha. Vrindavan is the sign of such love. In Vrindavan, you will see nothing but love stories scattered all over the town and there are many idols of Krishna and Radha.

The Yamuna River is said to be the sister of Lord Shri Krishna. This river is the sacred river of India, like the Ganges.

Yamuna River
It is believed that if one takes a dip in the holy water of this river, Lord Krishna forgives all his sins, and that person's body and soul become pure.

This is the reason why every devotee who comes to Vrindavan takes a dip in the Yamuna River. There are many ghats on the Yamuna in Vrindavan. One can also take a boat ride in Yamuna.

Radha Ballabh Temple
Another beautiful place to visit in Vrindavan is the Radhavallabh Temple. This temple is located just a short distance from Banke Bihari Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna.

DSC08817.JPG

Vrindavan is, as we all know, famous for Lord Krishna and Radha, his lover. The famous Prem Temple is right here, which took 11 years and more than $200 million to build. Prem, if translated in English, stands for love.

The Prem Mandir is made of Italian Carrara marble. Seeing the workmanship done in this temple, you will be able to see a new form of Indian culture and craftsmanship. This temple looks even more beautiful at night due to the colorful lights installed in it.

ISKCON temple
In 1975, more than a thousand samskaras together made the ISKCON temple a place in Vrindavan, where it is believed that Lord Krishna used to go there with his friends. I wanted to go there, but that day there was a traffic jam due to heavy rain.

Seva Kunj
If during your visit to Vrindavan, you are looking for a place where you can experience peace and meditate in a calm environment, then Seva Kunj of Vrindavan is a very famous place.

It is said that Lord Shri Krishna and Radha spent a lot of time at this place. There are beautiful trees and flowering plants here, which make the atmosphere here very charming.

DSC08809.JPG

This place is very suitable for spiritual practice. Sitting here, you will feel peace and closeness with Lord Krishna.

This is the reason why most people who visit Vrindavan come to this beautiful place to spend some moments of peace.

Vaishno Devi Temple
Another place of interest in Vrindavan is the Vaishno Devi Temple. This temple is located at a distance of about 8 kilometers from Banke Bihari Temple and 3 kilometers from Prem Mandir.

This temple is between Mathura and Brindavan. Statues of nine different forms of Maa Durga have been installed in the sanctum sanctorum of this temple.

There is a 141-foot-tall, huge statue of Goddess Durga inside the temple. Lord Hanuman ji is sitting at the feet of the mother under the statue. It is visible from a distance.

Thanks for the thorough story. I like the fact that you decided to introduce us to the religion and history of your country a little more. Our cultural diversity is what makes this world beautiful. It is very interesting to learn about the customs, beliefs and special places of different peoples. At the same time, it is difficult to comment on posts dedicated to other religions or shrines, because due to my ignorance, I may say something stupid or offensive.

India's culture is very rich, and the history of your country is much older than that of our western civilizations. Even though I read more information on Wikipedia about Vrindavan and about Hinduism in general, it would take me more than a month to learn even a little about your culture. However, from your story and photos, it is clear that people have treated these sacred places with care for centuries, invested a lot of work and resources here. I would be very interested to visit any Hindu center even though I am a Christian. Especially since Hinduism is distinguished by its religious tolerance.

One day, three Buddhist monks came to my small town. They took part in the Christian mass in our main church. It was a great example of religious tolerance and curiosity about other beliefs. Buddhist monks were open to communication and willing to talk about their religion as well. I think humanity still needs to learn a lot of tolerance towards each other.

I am also impressed by the architecture of your temples and other buildings. You live in India and probably don't pay too much attention to the elegance of the rounded forms of your buildings.

Thank you for participating.

Thank you so much 👍I am humbled by your kind views about our country and its diversity. To be honest, I never visit any religious place with religious points of view but to learn about the cultures and architectural beauty of that place.

As you said, I believe that the Indian culture is perhaps as old as the primitive era, and we started experimenting more as the foreigners started evading us. You can see the difference that I present from the Moghul era with mosques and tombs, the churches that came with Europeans, the Boudhism, which was, of course, part of Indian culture as Lord Buddha was born here, The Sikhism, and many other beliefs like Jainism, Persians, etc.

I can only say that I visit all these places and display them from a tourist's point of view. I am leaving shortly, but I would love to Invite you to my state, Goa, and show you the best churches in the world.
