Time Challenges — a Time of Challenges!

in WORLD OF XPILAR5 months ago

Sometimes I become very aware of just how much time and clocks dominate our lives.

Recently — about a month ago, actually — I got involved in doing a long term challenge for my artwork, in an attempt to build better social media promotional habits.

I'm about a month into the process, as I said and the main thing I've learned is that I already have a very full schedule. The way that was really underscored for me was that I haven't been able to find any time in my schedule... I have had to make time, and that making of time basically means I spend about 60-90 minutes more per day "involved in something."

There simply wasn't anything I could cancel, cut out or shorten... I'm already fully booked.

Which tells me that I really need to get things off my plate, not add new ones because it sounds like a cool idea!

I realize that this is how a lot of people live, in this day and age. Stretched to the hilt, and running like mad fools to get everything taken care off... including all those bills.

It seems like such a far cry from my own childhood where my dad would leave for work at 8:30 in the morning and return home at 4:30 or so... and doing that five days a week allowed us to have a pretty nice and comfortable life.

Now I look around and see lots of people we know in the same boat, sometimes working two and even three jobs to make ends meet.

How can that be fair and reasonable?

Oh, that's right, nobody promised us life would be fair!

But still, can't really complain too much... I made a choice to do things I like and make do in many ways, from a financial aspect. And that's how life often goes... everything is a tradeoff, of some kind.

One of the things I know I am not likely to compromise on is my blogging and writing time!

It might seem a bit silly and frivolous to the casual observer, but being able to sit down on a daily basis and write something is an important part of my personal; mental health routine.

As I have written before here, writing is often one of the ways I work through ideas and solve problems. There's just something about "putting it in writing" that makes my brain calm down!

At the moment, life seems a little frantic because I keep saving up for the property tax payment, coming due at the end of the month.

It seems a bit ridiculous that you put all your savings into buying a house outright so you have no loans or mortgage payments... and then you still have to fork over thousands of dollars every year in property tax payments.

Well, it's late and I'm going to hustle off to bed. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your weekend!

How about you? Are you a good time manager? Do you have actual "free time" in your life, or is every moment filled with things that have to get done? Leave a comment if you feel so inclined — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!
