Routines: Boring, Perhaps... But it's How You BUILD Something!

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 years ago

A lot of people openly hate routines. They are often considered boring and something for dull people like accountants and actuaries.

No disrespect to accountants and actuaries intended...

Of course, those words are often spoken by people whose "personal image" means that they are terrified of being seen as boring.

But I digress.

Here I am, at almost 2:00am in the morning, writing a post on Steemit. I should be in bed, fast asleep... but I have a certain routine try to go through every day, and it includes making an effort to blog at least every other day.

And it is thanks to my routines that I have a number of the things I have in my life.

When we look back across our lives, we might remember the things that came to us in a sudden flash of brilliance, but from a sheer numbers perspective, the vast majority of our accomplishments and successes were built on routines and simply showing up, every day.

And so, I am taking the time to show up to write a blog post at this late hour... and to make a pitch for the value of having routines and dedicating ourselves to sticking to them, as part of our strategies for building success... across a broad spectrum of life's experiences.

I'm not — by nature — a particularly "dedicated" or driven sort of person. All other things being equal, I'd much rather sit in a comfy chair and rad a good book.

I know this about myself, and that's why I have gradually developed my "lists" of things I routinely need to get done every day... even when it means I end up staying awake quite late!

I suppose it's also a matter of what is important to us. One of the things I keep in mind is that I had to sell off the majority of my accumulated SteemPower... and I want to bring it back up. And that is not going to happen if I choose to sit and read a book, while blowing off my blog!

Maybe having routines isn't for everybody, but I have found it to be one of the few ways I can stay on task with a degree of regularity.

Thanks for reading, and have a great remainder of your week!

How about YOU? Do you have routines you follow? Or do you prefer more of a "free flow" lifestyle? Either way, do you feel it works to your advantage? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

Several years ago I created a daily routine and it feels great, I also leave a period of the day to do different things that I had not done, as a challenge or just sleep. :-) Success in rebuilding your account. Happy and long life.

Thanks for your kind words! I personally like routines quite well... they very much help keep me from just hopping around from one interesting thing to the next, without accomplishing much.

Thank you for responding and giving me the opportunity to highlight what I missed in my first comment.

Are the beautiful images that adorn the post, especially the moon.
Greetings from Venezuela. Good night.
