November Starts Off "My Season" For Many Things!

in WORLD OF XPILAR9 months ago

I'm not sure exactly why, but I have been inclined break each year into different "seasons" for as long as I can remember.

Now, when I say "seasons," I'm not talking about the usual spring-summer-fall-winter versions we are used to.

Writing Season

November typically marks the start of "writing season" for me... perhaps the result of having made many attempts over the years to complete the NaNoWriMo challenge for writers which takes place every November.

I have participated in this challenge to write every day in November — with the ultimate goal being to write a novel in 30 days — many times, but never managed to complete the challenge.

Regardless, November always feels like the time of the year when I am "ramping up" my creative writing. I expect it's partially because the days here in the North are getting shorter and darker, and I am spending more and more time with indoor activities.

"Indoor Season"

In a broader sense, you could say that November means "indoor season" for me.

It's when I turn to working on my art more, and Mrs. Denmarkguy and I start in on our holiday schedule of taking our respective creative endeavors to arts and crafts shows, to sell as vendors. In fact, we have four two and three-day events we'll be attending between November 9th and December 17th.

It's important to us because it's our time of the year to actually sell the things we create!

It's not that we are really artists "for money," but art definitely is more fun when you get it in the hands of other people who appreciate it, and that small stream of income is generally enough to keep us in art supplies for the year to come!

Hobby Season

Of course, an adjust to indoor season is that it is also the time of the year when I turn more to my hobbies.

Some of them are quite old-fashioned and definitely indoor endeavors! For example, I am a postage stamp collector... something I have been interested in since childhood. It may sound like a slightly unusual hobby in this digital age where people rarely send letters anymore... but I have fun with it.

Fun enough, actually, that buying and trading old stamps is also one of my part-time occupations, and November also marks the point at which many people pull out their stamp collections because they are no longer as involved in their outdoor activities.

Of course, there definitely are year-long stamp collectors... but it is a rather season hobby, on the whole.

Crypto Season?

Of course, this last one might just be "wishful thinking," but the crypto markets have often done really well between November 1st and the end of the year!

And let's not forget that Steem's great run in 2017 took place mostly in November and December.

Are we due for another? Only time will tell!

Anyway, I always have a good feeling when November rolls around!

Thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your week!
