Life, Energy, Work and Getting Things Done as You Age
One of the inevitable side effects of aging seems to be the fact that you more frequently pause for a moment and ponder the reality that you don't seem to have as much energy as you once did.
”I sure must have had a lot of energy at some point! Seems like doing this was a lot easier than it is now!”
Did I really have a lot more energy and determination?
Truth be known, some of these ”pauses” are not purely a reflection of having less energy... there's something else there, too. After all, even though I have rounded 60 years of age I'm actually pretty fit and healthy.

One of the things I've come to recognize over the past few years is that when I was younger I was actually far more tolerant of ”life being shitty,” pretty much all the time than I am today. It wasn't so much about energy as it was about a willingness to put up with far more setbacks and hardships than I am now.
Or maybe "willing" isn't exactly the right word... so much as to say that these setbacks didn't "take the wind out of my sails" the way they do now.
Maybe that sounds a bit dramatic, but when I look back in search of what some people like to call ”the good old days,” I sadly have to conclude that I really didn't have any ”good old days” to speak of, and that the current days are about as good as they've ever been. Life wasn't great back then — in the past — and they still aren’t ”all that.”
Of course, these days my feelings may also be somewhat clouded by the ongoing pandemic situation in the world. Living with a constant sense of "limitations" and a degree of worry about this mystery illness we have had to contend with for a couple of years does tend to suck some of the enthusiasm — and by extension energy — right out of your life.

Similarly, finding the energy to get my work done is sometimes tricky, given that we seem to be doing just as much as before, but the results are getting smaller and smaller. And I'm not "just saying that:" I'm actually in the middle of preparing our annual federal income tax return, I can can see in black-and-white how the income from our home businesses is declining.
I guess I just need to find time to blog more, to make up the shortfall... and hope that people like what I have to say! Talk about "better life through Steemit..."
Anyway, sorry about such a "mopey" post! I'll try to find a little more enthusiasm tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
How about YOU? Are you getting older... and sometimes wonder where your energy has gone to? Do you find yourself able to get as much done as you used to? Are you more easily stopped by setbacks than you used to be? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!
