Pencil drawing (No 39)

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 months ago

Hi Steemians! I'm glad to participate in this week contest and I believe that my photograph will actually remind us of some mutual and important event in our life.

Today I want to discuss a little about the Nucleus. There's something so unique about the nucleus, and the picture below is a drawing that is gonna be explained in a few steps.

Everyone is born with a nucleus. And most times, when our nucleus becomes abnormal, it affect our health. But ignorance keeps this vital truth from our awareness. The drawing above consist of the part that makes up a nucleus and I'm going to explain them one after the other.

What is nucleus?

According to Beginners Compass Biochemistry by Okpanachi Michael Onuche, the nucleus is a membrane-bound organelle that is covered in the core or matrix of all cells except the prokaryotes.

And the function of this nucleus is to:

  • Serve as a place of storing and preserving informations

  • Serve as the brain box detecting what to do, how to divide and how to grow the cell.

Part 1: Nuclear envelope

As you can see, the nuclear envelope is just like a cap. It is also known as nuclear membrane. Without it, nucleus would be found attach to the cytosol which also suspend other organelles.

Part 2: Nuclear Pore

Although I didn't capture a specific image showing the nuclear pore. But as the name implies, the pore can also be described as pinholes. Just as we have pores on our skin layer, that can absorbed whatever chemical is exposed to the skin..... If you look at the full image, you will see a circular objects at the backend, where an arrow indicate as pore.

Pore helps in passing protein and RNA through the Nuclear envelope.

Part 3: Chromatin materials

IMG_20240507_083127_006.jpg

According to the same author above ( Okpanachi Michael Onuche ) Chromatin is a mixture of materials like DNA, RNA and some proteins which made up a chromosome found in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. Chromatin materials (CM) prevents DNA from damages, control DNA replication, pack DNA to fit into the cell, and regulate gene expression.

Part 4: Endoplasmic reticulum

IMG_20240507_090907_336.jpg

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is the largest part organelle in the cell, and remember that all organelles are suspended by cytosol which serve as cement to the cytoplasm. The ER has spaces like cisternal spaces or cisternae which helps to convey proteinous materials, carbohydrates, lipids, etc from one organelle to another within the cell.

In summary, the nucleoplasm is the space where the chromatin materials are suspended. You can make further research to enlighten your knowledge. Thank you for viewing my drawing on the nucleus.
