A Trip To Burford, Oxfordshire, England
Hello, this is my entry for the WOX travel contest week 7. My wife and I visited the pictureque town of Burford, located in the Cotswold hills in West Oxfordshire. People call it the 'gateway' to the Cotswolds. It has a very nice church, beautiful architecture and independent businesses.

The historical town of Burford dates back to ancient times. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086 and it was granted a market in 1088, making it one of the earliest markets in England. Burford is known for its high street, which is great for shopping and includes antiques, a traditional butchers and even a cheese shop. It has a medieval bridge and Grade 1* listed church; The church of St John the Baptist. It is also a good place for walks as it has beautiful scenery, nestled in the Cotswolds.

Next door to the cheese shop is a very traditional butchers. I was very impressed with the food they had on offer, which included different types of traditional pork pies.

The church in Burford is called The church of St John the Baptist and work began in 1175 and was complete by 1500. It is a very special church as it is a Grade 1* listed building which attracts over 100,000 visitors every year, making it one of the top 10 visited churches in the country. Among other features, it has a turret clock that dates back to 1685 and two very early translations from the original Greek to English, from around 1525.

Burford looks an interesting old town with a lot to offer for the tourists. Love the food!!! Definitely worth to taste some of them. Need to keep in to visit list :)
