Oxheart, heirloom varieties look quite unusual to me.
You are lucky to have the land for farming (much hard work but still this is great).
I have bird's eye chilli peppers from a pot this year, from time to time. I eat them right from the bush and never enough :)
I encourage you to grow some tomatoes in a pot. The patio type would do very well for you, I think. Don't be afraid to try to grow inside during the Winter. I mean, we can't go anywhere anyway. :-(
Not a bad idea, turn your house into a greenhouse, with potted plants!
