The Diary Game: July 24, 2021: I Am Achieving A Much Better Dialysis Treatment Now
Today I was able to finish-off my dialysis treatment without fuss considering that one I only took two capsules of my Caffeine capsules which has a total of 400 mg plus the caffeine in the Coffee that I drank before and during my session, and two I used a new dialyzer with a blood pump of 280 mL/min even though the first two hours only was set to 250 mL/min. because the venous access had bulged due to misplaced needle in my arm, it didn't get painful but I felt the bulging and it worried me a bit since it is some blood going out from my AV fistula and into my skin.
I am now expecting some bruising and some stiffness in that part of my arm now. It is one of my worries during dialysis, with nurses making an error in inserting the needle through a big vein and then causing aberrations in the treatment or worse making your fistula unusable.
Well I do hope and pray that it would not happen to me because this access in my arm "Arteriovenous Fistula" is about 18 years now which was made a year after the first one had grown big, now this too had gotten biggest of them all, the Mother of all fistulas because of its age and hideous size.
My doctor told me and some of other nurses to have it examined but I guess that it is not necessary anymore since I really do not want to risk my arm being cut-off if some uneventful happened during the operation because we are talking of a large Artery where I will die in a few minutes if it is left bleeding unabated so they say that my arm could get cut-off to save my life.
I feel that my AV Fistula is still growing larger, maybe bigger than a Geese eggs even though I haven't seen a Geese eggs before but certainly it i snow bigger than a Duck's egg now. I will just trust God that nothing bad would happen with this fistula of mine because it is my lifeline.
But this AV Fistula that I use as an access for my dialysis would be of no benefit if I am not getting a better and satisfactory dialysis process so I just needed the blood pump to get faster so that more blood could get through the dialyzer (Blood filter) so that it would get washed-up much better. Now I am able to reach that goal of 300 mL/min which actually is relatively slower compare in Western dialysis standards, but at least for now I am able to survive dialysis woitout much discomfort and that is what I am happy about, thank be to God.
