Life in the Country #3 (power up 100%)

These photos are all of sunsets. I have taken hundreds of sunset photos at that location, because the view was so good. There was a field behind our house followed by a tree line. We could make out a few individual trees early in the evening, then they would meld together as it got darker, and they were backlit by the sun. With the camera zoomed in, sometimes the photos looked more like paintings.

We would never know ahead of time what the clouds would look like. In hotter months, the sky might be clear and there would only be a soft glow after the sun went down. Mostly we were treated to clouds with colors ranging from white to dark purple.

Other times the sun might be hidden until right at the horizon, when it would look like a fire burning in the trees. In the tree just to the left of the sun, at the very top, you can barely see a speck that is a great horned owl scanning the field for a possible supper.

Our favorite times were when we could see sun rays emanating from behind the clouds or beyond the horizon.

There is a saying that "Every cloud has a silver lining." We feel lucky to have lived in a place where that could be true.
