Bratislava (2).jpg

Yesterday I returned from Bratislava. The main goal was to see a friend from Vienna. Bratislava was the new place that I had unreasonably underestimated and transited through. It turned out to be a very nice and cozy city, a place for a leisurely walk, to try different foods, wines and beers.

Cross the street and you are already in the old town. The most famous cathedral is before your eyes. A wide avenue with many establishments leads to the Opera House. And you can go along the Danube along the pleasant promenade at least to the Philharmonic. You turn left and you are in front of the Opera House. From the Opera House I boarded a very pleasant bus, with an auto-guide in various languages, which passed through the main sights and reached the castle. There is 20 min to explore and back to the Opera House. From there, past McDonald's and the pleasant "Bratislava Restaurant Cafe", with a good and cheap daily menu, and past a curious one, I reached the town hall and the palace.

On "Panska" street I ate a cake in an old family pastry shop. The interior tries, unsuccessfully in my opinion, to resemble a New York cafe in Budapest, but here it is cluttered with heavy carvings and murals. The elegance and grace of New York coffee is unmatched. Thus passed a day. Quite enough. My nights, booked through MMT, were at the "Set" hotel, at the "Zimni Stadion" stop on highway 61. The hotel is behind the Winter Stadium and the Hilton. It fully lives up to its stars. I had a small issue with the AC running and the fridge not working, but they fixed them quickly. Perfect service. The bus stops immediately after passing the stadium. From the bus station you can take trolleybus 205 to get there. I had luggage and took a taxi, which cost me 20 euros for nothing.

The rest of the time we spent on long walks, I refrained from the Prater on this trip, we will go again. The city is an ideal destination for children, there are many opportunities for entertainment, good food, friendly people, cleanliness and ... well, everything.
Traveling with your child is a priceless emotion and always a new look at otherwise normal, banal things. Apart from that, it was very useful for my children to practice their basic English skills. They listened with great curiosity and used what they learned, which made them surprised and proud of themselves.

Go on a journey!
