WOX TRAVEL CONTEST | Montjuïc Castle Barcelona
The spacious glass cabins follow the 750-meter route between Parc de Montjuïc and Castell stations, via Mirador station, to climb 84.5 meters vertically.
The huge windows of the booth allow you to enjoy a fantastic view of the city and the surroundings.
The entrance bridge and the facade: Cermeño designed them in 1751 as part of the defensive improvements. The style of the access bridge is neoclassical. Its two columns welcome visitors to the castle.
Montjuic Castle has four battlements, two on the main wall and two others inside. These structures projecting from the wall served to protect the fortification. From the parade ground you will reach the terrace. This is the highest part of the complex. From here there is a panoramic view of the city of Barcelona. In the highest part of the castle is the parade ground. The main premises for the life and management of the fortress are located around it.
Today it is a beautiful landscaped area where many activities take place.
It is a 155 meter long wall that faces the sea. From here there is an impressive view of the port of Barcelona.
This is the path that surrounds the fortification. In the past this was the front line of defense as it kept enemy infantry at bay.
In addition, from the terrace on the parade ground you can look out over Barcelona, the port, the coastline, the Mediterranean Sea and the area known as El Baix Llobregat.
Admission to the castle includes access to temporary and permanent exhibitions. It is also possible to take a guided tour of Montjuic Castle to discover and visit places closed to the public, such as the prison cells, the watch tower.

Thank you for showing off us Montjuic Castle. This military museum sure sounds like fascinating hitorical site and for sure has a rich history. It's interesting to learn about its origins in the 17th century and its role in the War of the Spanish Succession. The fact that it was used as a prison and even witnessed the execution of a prominent political figure i guess adds a layer of historical significance. Your photos are very informative, thank you for particpiating.
I also thank you for the opportunity to participate in the travel contest :)
