An incredible adventure and an unforgettable emotion – a desert safari in Dubai

1.jpg

Dubai is an amazing city, where the tallest building in the world (Burj Khalifa) rises, there is the most luxurious hotel, the largest Mall (Dubai Mall) and many other human achievements. However, all this was literally "reconquered" by the Great Desert surrounding this concrete "oasis" of human civilization.

It is this desert that I will tell you about in this post :)

Every guest of Dubai should visit the desert, and the easiest and most enjoyable way is with an organized Desert safari. There are many companies that offer the service, it is similar, the price differences are small, but still there are companies that are proven and positive emotions are guaranteed.

I will tell you briefly and with some pictures what the safari is. Most often a white Toyota Land Cruiser, but also a Hummer or some other more exotic 4x4 vehicle, comes to pick up passengers from their hotel or from a location you have pre-arranged. Keep in mind that people are late, so if you agreed on 15:00 and at 15:30 there is still no white cart in front of your hotel - don't worry, it will come.

After picking you up, the driver (mostly Indian or Pakistani) will try to explain what you will be doing later. If you're lucky you'll understand 20-30% of what he said, otherwise just nod! Once you reach one of the points from which the safari starts, you can make a short stop. There are places where ATVs and buggies are rented and tourists can ride on the dunes before the actual part of the safari begins. They will also try to sell you souvenirs, scarves, fruit and whatever else you can get your hands on for a few dirhams :)))

And the most important and unforgettable part – the crazy ride on the dunes. Before the safari starts, most tourists think that it is hardly that extreme - it is some sands and jeeps that will move with 20-30 km. in an hour. Already in the first 60 seconds, however, most understand that it will be more fun and "shaking" than expected.

The drivers (or rather "pilots") know what they are doing and drive really uniquely - fast, with sharp turns, flying from one side to the other along the very edge of the sand dunes. They race from hill to hill, literally diving down and then flying up. All this to the sounds of local music and the shouts of tourists. I recommend that you do not eat before the safari, and that only verified "cadres" who do not have problems with the vestibular apparatus sit in the last seats of the jeep. And don't worry, jeeps, although tall, rarely turn on the ceiling 🙂

After the tourists are well "stirred" from bumping into each other and into the doors of the jeep, it is time to document this state and emotion as well. The drivers usually make two stops to take pictures of the dunes, and the passengers have 10-15 minutes to jump, run up and down, dig in the sand... in general - whatever comes to their mind. It is possible to take pictures with a falcon and some go windsurfing on the dunes. Especially at sunset, amazing photos are guaranteed, and shots with camels can be taken at the end of the safari before dinner has started.

Everything ends with an abundant and delicious dinner - there is no service, tourists line up at a kind of buffet table, with a variety of dishes - salads, main dishes and desserts. You need to know one thing: be calm, hungry and dissatisfied with the kitchen, you are unlikely to stay. During the dinner there is a program - mostly local dances and necessarily belly dance, which all visitors appreciate positively 🙂

Congratulations, your post has been upvoted by @bambuka and received a bonus from the curation account of the WOX community.

I wanted to write a similar post but about the desert and safari in Abu Dhabi.
I even wrote a little bit in early January.
