Memories of a trip to Belgium are pictures of medieval rooftops, lovely canals, delicious beer, sweet waffles and delicious chocolates. In this remarkable European country, time seems to move at a slower pace, and the people are friendly and welcoming to travelers who want to explore Belgium. From trendy cities boasting designer shops and glamorous galleries, to authentic cobbled streets where museums and small craft shops await

Belgium is a young country in the context of "old" Europe. The country has been at the center of European history for centuries, but gained state independence only in 1830. Today, Belgium is a nation born of a united Europe. Remarkably survived, despite the differences in political views and languages, united in a common border. Each of the neighboring countries has left its mark on the customs and traditions here – the Netherlands, which lies to the north, Germany to the east, France to the south, the small independent country of Luxembourg to the southeast, and the west coast faces Great Britain. All these countries have an influence and make Belgium one of the most multicultural countries I have been to.

The official name of the country is the "Kingdom of Belgium" and to this day it has its own monarch - King Philippe.

The word "SPA", when we talk about places of rest and wellness, comes from the Belgian city of Spa, a famous balneological resort with many healing mineral springs.

Brussels International Airport is the largest chocolate outlet in the world.

And speaking of chocolate, Belgium produces over 220,000 tons of chocolate every year.

Flemish and French are spoken in Brussels. Even the street signs are in both languages.

Sweet lovers will feel in heaven in the famous Belgian chocolatiers. In each of them we find hand-made candies – pralines filled with liqueur, truffles made from butter, cream and cocoa, as well as fine milk chocolate. Be sure to visit one of the Leonidas, Godiva, Pierre Marcolini, Neuhaus stores or one of the thousands of small family chocolatiers on the shopping streets.

Food in Belgium is often described as French in quality and German in quantity! Traditional Belgian cuisine focuses on beef and pork, and specializes in seafood in the west. "Mosselen" are the traditional Belgian mussels, which are served with a variety of delicious sauces. We serve them a glass of beer. Beer is the other symbol of Belgium. The small country has over 150 breweries with more than 1,000 different brands of Belgian beers. You could spend over a month there and only scratch the surface with the abundance of beers available.

It is on the square that the largest Christmas market in the city is located. In December, the square regains its commercial spirit of the past, is showered with lights, Christmas music and people in a festive mood. Here you will find mulled wine, local cheeses and delicacies, as well as many Christmas toys and gift ideas.
