Welcoming the relics of St. George the Victorious in Sofia

The relics will remain in the city for two days, as the Basilica of St. Sophia, where they are placed, will receive pilgrims around the clock.
Saint George the Victorious is one of the most revered saints. He is revered by both Christians and Muslims.

Part of the right hand of the holy great martyr George the Victorious arrived in Sofia. Welcoming a part of the relics of St. George the Victorious is of great importance for Bulgaria, because we receive the blessing of the saint, who is the patron of many settlements in Bulgaria, of many cities, of many villages and of many families in our country.

"The joy that comes to us with the arrival of the particle of the holy relics of St. George the Victorious is great and we see that as we love him, so he loves us." said Bishop Polycarp.

The Diocese of Sofia welcomed today a part of the right hand of St. Great Martyr George the Victorious, which rested in the church "St. Great Martyr George the Victorious" in the city of Nigrita, near Seres (Northern Greece). The temple was specially built in his honor and memory. The shrine will remain for worship in Bulgaria until May 7.

Father John from the church "St. Sophia" announced that tonight there will be vespers and a prayer canon to St. George. "The temple will be open as long as there are those who wish to worship before the part of the relics of St. Great Martyr George.
