Playing photographer | Rainy people - Pluviophile ☔
Some places in the world get rain every day, while others don't see rain for years. However, whether because of its frequency or its lack, rain always evokes feelings in people - for some positive, for others negative and uncomfortable. But feelings! In fact, the mulberry has long since become an occasion for romantic moments, songs, movies and poems.
Rain is a common theme in literature, music, cinema and art. The sound of falling drops has inspired numerous works. There are people around the world who have a special affinity and fascination with this natural phenomenon and they are called pluviophiles.
A pluviophile simply loves rain and everything related to it. People who feel this special attraction to the rain usually have two outstanding characteristics: some enjoy the rain sensually, others enjoy the greyness.
On the one hand, people like to watch the falling drops directly or through a window. Contemplating in the rain, following the path of the drop, seeing the drops hit the ground, gives great pleasure, peace and joy. In addition, it gives them a reason for reflection and a moment of pause in life.
These people have an irresistible desire to get wet under the raindrops and feel the water on their skin. The sense of touch activates a sense of freedom and well-being.
The pluviophiles love the sound of rain. In fact, research shows that the sound of storms or rain is helpful in relaxing us or improving our concentration. This is because it is usually a soft and monotonous sound.
Pluviophiles love the smell after rain. The scent of moist earth, also known as petrichor, is a source of delight for them. This smell is the result of a combination of elements. It includes geosmin, a molecule produced by a certain type of actinobacteria, plant oils and other substances present in the earth that activate from rainwater. For pluviophiles, petrichore is associated with feelings of change, transition and renewal.
They love gray days
Another characteristic of pluviophiles is the association they have with gray skies. Unlike most people, those who love the rain find gray skies heavy with dark clouds both comfortable and comforting. They may even feel uplifted on rainy days and depressed on sunny days.
It is possible for people to become pluviophiles if they suffer from heat intolerance. This means they prefer cold and Rainy climates because THE hot THEM causes allergies, rashes or sunburns. It is no accident that rain appears so often in poetry and in the most beautiful and dramatic film impressions. In fact, rain has the power to inspire us, free our imaginations, and reconnect us to nature and the world's hidden beauty.
