Photo of the week #157 - Life Dance
Life Dance
This spring I was shooting the Porto Ethno festival in Rijeka, Croatia. It is the festival where all the ethnic groups living in Rijeka come to exhibit their traditions, food & culture. As I wrote before in my previous publications, Rijeka is the most cosmopolitan city in Croatia. Many different nations have been living here for centuries. That's also more of the reason why this festival is created & being held every year.
In the following shots you can see the very best moment of the festival when the Serbian & the Macedonian musician united together in music & the dancers went down from the stage between the audience & moved them to join the dance. Many people joined, of all nations! It was the moment which is not seen often these days of the modern times. Is was a very unique & precious moment!
The traditional dance of all the Slavic tribes is kolo or oro or tanac/tanec. These for word I know that are used by the Southern Slav tribes. It is a dance where the dancers join hands & form a circle - the most perfect natural form to keep the energy high. During these kind of festivals mostly we have celebrated Life & Nature & all that Gods gave us, as well as fertility. During these kind of dance festivals young men & women were introducing each other, falling in love & mostly forming love bounds & creating families later on. Those were great times.

The very best, the peak moment of the festival - my Heart was full of joy & almost crying of warmth & supernatural happinesss. I would like this photo to be my entry to the contest.
