Fire Salamander

I always like to encounter these creatures in the forest. I mostly see them in mid autumn when temperature is not too high nor too low with high percentage of humidity. Then the forest ground is full of them. One needs to be careful not to step on them. The ground is not covered with them but still there are many. Many of them are going in different directions. It seems like pointless walking with no goal whatsoever but I believe they have their own little purpose! Rarely I notice 2-3 on the same place. Possible they gather for mating. We were thought they are poisonous & that we shouldn't touch them nor lick or anything just leave them in peace & not disturb them. When you come near one of them, they freeze & don't move at all. Probably they are afraid so they stay still hoping that we won't notice them if they are not moving & so save their lives. Their skin is black with orange dots. It is thought that this orange color in nature signifies danger or toxicity. Apparently, this specie of salamander is extremely toxic & can be dangerous even for humans.

Usually, the color photo of this animal looks much more real & effective exactly because the orange dots but I purposely made it in b'n'w version for achieving the special alternated & more artistic appearance. I also like how it pops out from the ground, seemingly alive with different vibrations than the other things laying on the ground scattered.
