Beyond the Frame & Shutter Innovations | Black & White Photography | Experimental Photography
Greetings fellow Steemians and the WOX community!
You know in the world of photography, every click is a conversation with light and shadow. This is what I’m gonna do today, but there’s not gonna be only a conversation, but also experimentation. So today in the Black & White photography contest I’m gonna experiment with filters.
Well I decided to make an experiment with different filters, cuz i found a photo from my library that I couldn’t decide which B&W filter to put, cuz they all looked astonishing.
First things first and let’s talk about the place and well it’s not something very special except it’s a port from one of our sea cities Burgas. Yeah Bulgaria has its own sea which is called the Black Sea and a couple of countries share that sea. Countries such as Turkey, Romania, Ukraine and Russia. I think it also this sea covers Georgia, but I’m not so sure, i suck at Geography most of the time so don’t mind me. Hehe
Anyway this is the Burgas port and today you are gonna be the judges of which filter fits the best for it, cuz I honestly couldn’t decide, also enjoy the photography. 😄
MONO |
---|
This is the MONO filter which is adds a timeless or artistic feel to the photo by focusing on the interplay of light and shadow without the distraction of color. The full word for MONO comes from the word Monochrome where Monochrome images often highlight textures and shapes, providing a different aesthetic compared to full-color photographs.
SILVERY |
---|
Here comes my favourite B&W-ish filter which as far as i know isn’t widely recognised in photography or maybe it’s a new term, cuz lots of softwares have their own filter names. This is from the IOS filters from my phone and i can only say that it silvery.
NOIRE |
---|
The "Noire" filter just like MONO refers to a black and white or monochromatic filter that adds a noire, or film noire, effect to the photo. This effect is inspired by the visual style of classic film noire movies, characterized by high contrast, dramatic shadows, and a moody atmosphere.
60’s TV GRAB |
---|
Here comes the retro filter with unusual name from PS EXPRESS. Well I don’t think i need to tell you much except that the filter is in the name. This photo with this particular filter feels like the TV’s back in the 60’s. Not that i lived through that time, but still you get the idea. 😄
INFRARED |
---|
A lot of people when hearing that something is infrared they automatically think of it being red. Yes that’s the case, but when putting B&W it becomes almost like an art. The infrared filter typically involves using light beyond the visible spectrum and this means that it catches something that’s invisible to the human eye.
FADED B&W |
---|
I don’t know if i am the only one, but when i see something faded in B&W it kinda looks like a sketch. This filter typically reduces the overall photo of the contrast and adds a subtle haze or a vintage look. Don’t know about you, but this photo with this filter gives me some dreamy looks.
HiCONTRAST B&W |
---|
Here we come to the last one in this list and this filter basically intensifies the distinction between light and dark areas. You know it enhances the sharpness of the edges and highlights a more of a dynamic look.
Anyway this is the end of our charming B&W photographic experiment. Let me know which filter suits your eyes the most, cuz for me this is a challenging one. I hope you enjoyed this post and see ya around. 😄
