The World of XPILAR-LANDSCAPE/SEASCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST: By car on the Gulf of Finland

The city of Kronstadt is located on an island on the waters of the Gulf of Finland. Previously, it was possible to get to it only by ferry or boat. Now you can get in your car and just drive there. From both banks to the island there is a road along the dam, which is designed to save St. Petersburg from floods. It is a bulk stone rampart with engineering structures and a road. Today I had the honor of driving along it.

Город Кронштадт расположен на острове на водах Финского залива. Раньше попасть на него можно было только с помощью парома или катера. Теперь вы можете сесть в свою машину и просто приехать туда. С обеих берегов к острову протянута автодорога по дамбе, которая призвана спасать Санкт-Петербург от наводнений. Это насыпной каменный вал с инженерными сооружениями и дорогой. Сегодня я имел честь проехать по ней.

The dam trajectory crosses several forts. These are artificial islands that used to protect St. Petersburg and Kronstadt from enemies from the sea. I stopped at one of them to take some pictures. Bright daytime sun isn't the best option for photography, but I didn't have to choose.

Траектория дамбы пересекает несколько фортов. Это искусственные острова, которые раньше защищали Санкт-Петербург и Кронштадт со стороны моря от врагов. На одном из них я остановился, чтобы немного пофотографировать. Яркое дневное солнце не является лучшим вариантом для фотографии, но мне не приходилось выбирать.

From these stones fishermen love to throw their tackle. Here you can catch good bites and good fish. But that's another story.

С этих камней рыбаки любят забрасывать свои снасти. Здесь можно попасть на хороший клёв и наловить хорошей рыбы. Но это уже другая история.
