Having seen the new theme of Mr. Omortson's contest today (@mister-omortson) I remembered a trip to Karelia and an unexpected meeting with an ancient steam locomotive. Unexpected, because we didn't know it was there and came across it completely by accident. And why ancient... they don't do that now. This is exactly a steam locomotive and it has a boiler, a furnace and steam, which makes the wheels rotate.
I don't remember the exact date of release, about 1928, and this locomotive is still in operation. It runs on the Sortavala-Ruskeala route and you can buy a ticket and make a trip.
Of course, it is designed for tourists, nevertheless it is a completely working train and this is surprising given its advanced age. By the way, the same locomotive runs from St. Petersburg to Sortavala.
And it is clear that such an old mechanism requires constant maintenance. People need a locomotive and people's hands need a locomotive.

Увидев сегодня новую тему конкурса Мистера Омотсона (@mister-omortson) я вспомнил поездку в Карелию и неожиданную встречу с древним паровозом. Неожиданную, потому что мы не знали, что он там есть и набрели на него совершенно случайно. А почему древний... такие сейчас не делают. Это именно паровоз и у него есть котёл, топка и пар, который и заставляет колёса вращаться.
Я уже не помню точную дату выпуска, примерно 1928 год и до сих пор этот паровоз является действующим. Он курсирует по маршруту Сортавала-Рускеала и вы можете купить билет и совершить поездку.
Конечно, он рассчитан на туристов, тем не менее это совершенно рабочий поезд и это удивительно с учётом его преклонного возраста. Кстати, такой же паровоз ходит из Петербурга в Сортавалу.
И понятно, что такой старый механизм требует постоянного ухода. Паровоз нужен людям и руки людей нужны паровозу.
