Today, for the first time this year, I saw a working fountain. It was in a quiet courtyard away from the hustle and bustle of the street. I don’t know, maybe there are still working fountains somewhere in the city, but they are usually launched at the end of spring in the second half of May.

I did not expect to see a fountain and I do not know why I had a variable neutral filter (ND) in my pocket. Of course, I was quick to use it.

What is the purpose of this filter. If you want to use a slow shutter speed in sunny weather, then most likely you will not have enough settings on your camera to not overexpose the photo. You can stop the aperture completely and make it the size of a mouse's eye, make the ISO the smallest ... but this will probably not be enough. So the neutral gray filter simply darkens the frame due to a special design. If someone wants to try, I recommend buying an inexpensive variable filter ND 2-400. This will be enough to understand how much you need it at all and whether you will use it.

I put the camera on a tripod, screwed on the ND filter and took a long exposure. My target was the water of the fountain. I wanted to see not splashes, but jets. It is also useful to have a remote camera control for descent

As a lens, I used a Helios 44-2 manual lens. His hood is designed so that I could not install it on the filter. Therefore, the rays of the sun made their pattern. This light in the frame can completely ruin it, or, on the contrary, something interesting can turn out. In this case, I liked the result.
