Black forest
During his wanderings through forests and swamps, I could not pass Lundolovskoy larch groves. This is the oldest larch grove in Russia. It was founded two centuries ago in pursuance of the decree of the Emperor of All Russia Peter-1. But at that time he was no longer alive.
There were planted and Archangelsk Siberian larch breed for the needs of shipbuilding. These trees have surprisingly straight and tall trunks and very durable wood.
Since then, the grove has been expanded with additional seedlings several times and now it is several zones of the now wild forest. A couple of years ago this place we have started to equip for tourists and organized an eco-trail. For moist places it laid decking boards and have access to a couple of sites on the coast Roshinka River, which used to be called Lundolovkoy and gave its name to the grove.
I'll show you the river in a separate post, which will be of practical importance for photography, and now let's go a little into the forest. In cloudy weather, he does not look cheerful. When processing these photos, I decided to enhance the drama of this place and brought the processing closer to a low key (predominance of dark tones).
If the first photo was a picture hanging on the wall ... what name would you give it?
Some larches are so old that gusts of wind break them at the root and leave dramatic remains sticking out. The forest is being rehabilitated now.
In fact, this forest or grove is quite light. The only thing that upsets is the still lying logs of cut dry trees and the fact that the undergrowth along the roads and paths is being cut down.

I wonder if these are the same type of larch that I have planted on my property. The climate is so harsh here that locals are impressed by any tree that has "Siberia" in the name, so these trees are referred to as Siberian larch. They are also known as Tamarack. I was unaware that the wood could be used for such things as shipbuilding.
Sometimes, people will plant a row of larch on their south property line to serve as a windbreak. This blocks the south winds during the summer. In the winter, the needles fall from the tree, and this allows the sunlight in during the colder months.
Here is a picture of a typical Siberian larch growing on the Canadian prairie.
In your photo there is a young larch, the adults in my forest look like this:
Siberian and Arkhangelsk larch trees have an even long trunk. Long boards were made of it for sheathing the sides of ships and masts were made. This wood is durable and little subject to decay (destruction).
In my forests, larch trees do not grow in nature. Conifers include spruce, pine and juniper.
Sometimes larch is planted in city parks.
Thanks for the informative comment, have a nice weekend :)
Well, they are very nice when they are mature. I probably will not live old enough to see my larch trees become so tall, but I can hope. I think that I will plant more of them.
Oh-Oh ... these larches are about 100 years old :-/
HAHA! Yeah, I will probably NOT live another 100 years. Perhaps 50 more.
The main thing is not to think about it)))
HAHA! Yes. I will just concentrate on living forever.
This, too, can not think :-))
