The Subscription Model of Online Education in India

Online Education is a relatively newly coined term for us Indians as before the COVID-19 outbreak we were all happily going to our Classes and Tuition every single day without even having to think about classes being held Online or Offline. Due to COVID-19, we got educated about the Online aspect of studies and how our kids can study Online by just staying in their own houses.

Now at face value, this sounds good that your child is always at home and taking Tuition and Classes from home without leaving the supervision of their parents but I strictly believe that it does more harm than good in our kid's minds.

You see going to school and tuition is not just only for education but also for Social Interaction where you make friends as well as enemies but in the long run you come up with an Experience that cannot be taught in your Online Classes. I am pretty sure every single person over the Age of 20 has a School life or College life story that they just can't wait to tell their friends. It doesn't matter if it's a good story or an embarrassing one but we have a special place in our hearts for such memories.

Then again I strictly believe that Online Classes are not good as you definitely won't get the same amount of attention from the teacher when you are 50 miles away sitting in your home with your Laptop on. Then there is also the fact that Online Classes are not that thorough and the chances of your child learning properly are not good it is clearly shown in the current generation where there are students who consider JUPITER to be a Scooter instead of a Planet.

Apart from this the Online Classes also have a subscription-type model where parents have to pay a lot of money to get their kids to enroll in such classes and the process by which they threaten the parents is nothing short of absurdity, and, shockingly, most parents do fall for such Subscription Models. We have an EdTech company named Byju's who have done a lot of shady stuff to scale their platform and not so professional business was conducted even in enrolling students so I am not a fan of Online Education in India as of right now.

But this is also a fact that EdTech has its place in the education system but they have to place a lot of restrictions on a lot of fields so that the lives of students are not wasted.

This is my participation post for the March Monthly Prompt Initiative
