There are figures to whom the world owes much, emblematic and charismatic characters, their work on behalf of humanity were basic to achieve changes, the following was one of the great men of the twentieth century and determinant for what we are today.
FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSVELT
He is the 32nd president of the United States, born in Hyde Park, New York on January 30, 1882, descendant of a powerful American family, studied at the Grooton School and Harvard University, married in 1905 to Eleanor Roosvelt, one of the great American first ladies, with whom he had five children.
In 1921 he contracted the Polio disease which incapacitated his legs, nevertheless he ran for politics, since he had been a senator since 1910, he had also been Undersecretary of the Navy and in 1928 he was elected governor of Arkansas.
In 1932 he won the presidency, this within the crisis known as the Great Depression, then he will be reelected for four consecutive terms, this is something that no other president has achieved, nor will achieve due to the changes that were made later to the laws.
Roosevelt will have great achievements, but the greatest and for which he will go down in history is his struggle to combat those who during World War II endangered world peace, Roosevelt together with Winston Churchill and Russian leader Stalin, plus the great support of the American community managed to defeat the German, Japanese and Italian forces, this after having reached agreements at the Yalta conference.
Roosevelt was responsible for the creation of the foundations for the United Nations and the projects to achieve a united work after the war. Like many others, he did not escape criticism, among others his exaggerated desire to rule and that through the Manhattan Project the Atomic Bomb was manufactured, but in general terms he is considered one of the greatest characters of the 20th century.
Roosevelt despite his great efforts to support the allied victory, could not see his dream come true, unfortunately a stroke ended his life on April 12, 1945, being replaced by Harry Truman.
