Solar Radiation

Solar radiation is the energy that emanates from the sun's light belt and travels to the earth at very high speeds in the form of tiny electromagnetic waves or light waves.

Scientists from the International Center for Diarrhea Research Bangladesh (ICDDRB) and seven other developing countries will jointly study how solar radiation management adversely affects the world's poorest and most vulnerable regions. To this end, a leading research project has already started.
Through the Decimals project, ICDDRB of Bangladesh, Argentina, Benin, Indonesia, Iran, Ivory Coast, Jamaica and South Africa will share the results of their research with one of the world's leading solar radiation management modeling experts by the end of 2020.
The Decimals Fund is a private project called the Solar Radiation Management Governance Initiative (SRMGI) established in 2010 by the Environmental Defense Fund, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the Royal Society. This information was given in a press release sent from ICDDRB on Monday (January 8).
The project's lead researcher, ICDDRB's Associate Scientist at the Emerging Infections and Parasitology Laboratory, Dr. Mohammad Shafiul Alam said, ‘Bangladesh is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world to climate change. So far, the effects of climate change on public health have not been studied in depth. On the other hand, geo-engineering of solar radiation management is one of the most discussed issues in tackling climate change in the 21st century. However, its possible consequences are still unknown. In the context of solar geo-engineering Bangladesh and other developing countries, two specific diseases may be affected by cholera and malaria.

Almost all energy is coming to planet Earth and generated with the sun driving various weather events, ocean currents, and the distribution of ecosystems. This intense solar radiation is known in physical geography as it produces the core of the sun and after convection (energy vertical movement) it is sent to the earth it is away from the core of the sun. It takes about eight minutes for solar radiation to reach the earth after it leaves the sun's surface.

Once this solar radiation appears on Earth, its energy is unevenly distributed throughout the earth by latitude. This radiation enters the Earth's atmosphere, strikes near the equatorial region and creates an energy surplus. Since less direct solar radiation comes to the poles, they instead develop an energy deficit. In order to balance the energy balance, the extra energy of the oceanic region flows towards the poles in a cycle so that the energy will be enriched all over the world. This cycle is called earth-atmosphere energy balance.

Solar radiation path
Once shortwave solar radiation reaches the Earth's atmosphere, the energy is known as solid. This current is the energy input responsible for moving various earth-atmosphere systems such as weather events, ocean currents and other earth cycles like the energy balance described above.

Inspiration can be direct or diffuse.

Direct radiation is solar radiation on the Earth's surface and / or in the atmosphere that is not altered by atmospheric fungi. Diffused radiation is solar radiation that has been modified by spraying.

When entering the atmosphere, solar radiation spreads in five ways.

When this happens, currents are reduced and / or redirected as dust, gas, ice and water vapor enter the atmosphere. If energy waves have a wavelength, they are more scattered than other wavelengths. How it reacts with scattered and wavelength shapes we see in the blue color of the sky and in the atmosphere like white clouds.

Transmission is another solar radiation path. When interacting with gases and other particles in the atmosphere, it passes through the atmosphere and water instead of scattering both small and long-range energy.

Reference can also occur when solar radiation enters the atmosphere This path occurs when energy moves from one type of space to another, such as from water to air. As energy moves from this space, it changes its speed and direction when it reacts with the particles present there. Changes in direction often result in energy being expressed in different light colors, such as light entering through a crystal or prism.

Absorption is the fourth type of solar radiation path and it is the conversion of energy from one form to another.

For example, when solar radiation is absorbed by water, its energy rises from the water and raises the temperature. It is common to all drying surfaces from a leaf to a dumbbell.

The ultimate path of solar radiation is reflection. This is when one part of the energy bounces back into space without being directly absorbed, refracted, transmitted, or scattered. An important term to remember when studying solar radiation and reflection is albedo.
