Due to the unbalanced diet and lack of physical activities, obesity is becoming a common health issue. Surprisingly, the developed countries such as the US, UK, or even Hong Kong and the developing countries also faced the same problem. The trend still goes high, so do not think it is just a "rich people" problem.

Obesity is usually coming along with high triglycerides and cholesterol level.

Before we start talking about today's topic, let me introduce a little more about triglycerides and cholesterol.

In brief, triglycerides and cholesterol are the components of the blood lipid. The liver can produce them. At a certain amount of level, they are all good for our health. Cholesterol can be divided into two groups, high-density, which is good for protecting our blood vessel. However, the low-density group and triglycerides could narrow down our blood vessels. It also increases the risk of having blood circular diseases.

Factors increase the level of triglycerides and cholesterol

When our diets are rich in fat, especially saturated fat, it will increase triglycerides and cholesterol levels. Genetic history also would be one of the risk factors. Lack of exercise, smoking, uptaking alcohol would also be key factors that lead to high blood lipid level.
How to clear them
I would divide the scheme into two parts:

  • Diet
  • Changing daily habits and activities

Diet

  • Eat less sugar, especially fructose; according to recent research, fructose uptake will increase the liver transfer triglyceride rate. So do not eat too many high fructose fruits, such as apple, grapes, pear, cherry, etc.
  • Eat Rolled Oats to replace rice or bread. It can reduce the level of triglycerides. Besides, it also a low Glycemic Index which is beneficial to diabetes patient
  • Eat more tofu product. The soybean protein could lower the level of triglycerides.
  • Eat more fish, in my opinion, at least eat twice a week. It is rich in unsaturated fat and fatty acid, which can lower the concentration of triglyceride.

Health Habit

  • Eat at the regular time. It can keep the insulin level become stable and reduce the triglycerides level.
  • Having a regular sport activity habit. For example, jogging at least 2 hours per week, continuous to do it for 2 months, the study showed that could reduce triglycerides level. It can also increase the High-density cholesterol level.
  • Do not smoke
  • Do not drink too much alcohol. (However, drink a glass of red wine can reduce the circular disease, but do not drink too much)
