Lasagna - A Delicious Traditional Italian Dish

Good day, fellow Steem users, Italy community users as well as dear readers from both HIVE and outside of it! For today's personal contribution here on the Italy community, I decided to write a bit about Lasagna which is a delicious and excellent traditional Italian dish. I previously had lasagnas many times as an adolescent and a young adult and the best thing I discovered about it was the fact that it can be made in more than one way.

While it is very good, tasty, and fulfilling with meat, it can equally be great without it. That's what I love about this dish very much, the fact that it can be made according to various recipes not only. This gives a bit of a culinary freedom in making it which is awesome!

After some basic research on the internet, I discovered the fact that Lasagna originated in the administrative region of Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy. Lasagna also has two variations, namely: Lasagnette and Lasagnotte.

Technically, lasagna is a form of pasta, quite possibly one of the oldest forms of it, which has a rectangular, flat shape.

Lasagna can trace its roots from Ancient Rome, as there was a similar dish served back then known as 'lasana' or 'lasanum' (which was Latin for 'container'/'pot'). However, the actual lasagna as we know it today originated in Italy during the High Middle Ages, more specifically in the late 13th century.

Lasagna is a type of pasta which is baked in the oven and is filled with meat, vegetables, cheese, sauce, seasonings, and spices. It is best served warm and worst served hot, cold, or lukewarm. It is an excellent example of Italian cuisine and a wonderful, timeless dish which can be savoured in multiple versions according to different recipes of it.
