Qualche mese fa sono stato vicino a Verona ed ho fatto una sosta a Zevio. Zevio è paese di 15000 abitanti in provincia di Verona. Il municipio è all'interno di un ampio fossato. L’edificio in cui è ora il municipio viene chiamato “il castello” anche se non ha la forma architettonica di un castello, ma come un castello è completamente circondato da un canale d’acqua. Questo cerchio d’acqua che circonda il municipio è qualcosa che richiama la struttura architettonica esterna dei castelli medievali i quali erano circondati dai fossati per avere maggiore protezione. Nei pressi del fossato c’è un marciapiede per poter fare una passeggiata completa attorno al municipio.
In fondo al post ho inserito altre foto del luogo sopra descritto.
Che ne pensate di questo fossato che circonda completamente il municipio?

Description of the photo shot
A few months ago I was near Verona and I made a stop in Zevio. Zevio is a town of 15,000 inhabitants in the province of Verona. The town hall is inside a large moat. The building where the town hall is now is called "the castle" even if it does not have the architectural shape of a castle, but like a castle it is completely surrounded by a water channel. This circle of water that surrounds the town hall is something that recalls the external architectural structure of medieval castles which were surrounded by moats for greater protection. Near the moat there is a sidewalk to take a complete walk around the town hall.
At the bottom of the post I have added more photos of the place described above.

Thanks, it was a really nice day with a bright sun and some great photos came out. I think it is the only municipality in Italy that has a moat all around it, perhaps even the only one in Europe

Questo luogo ha una storia lunghissima… un vero castello non c’è mai stato, ma in passato fu un luogo di difesa e fortificazione, quindi oggi si ritrova questo posto fantastico. Un vero e proprio canale d’acqua circolare che circonda questo edificio diventato oggi il municipio della città
Certo non sarà un vero castello ma attraversare un fossato con fiume per andare in municipio è davvero particolare!
Assolutamente, è davvero spettacolare. Un vero e proprio canale d’acqua che circonda il municipio. Tutto questo è dovuto ad una storia lunghissima che parte più di 500 anni fa e si sussegue in vicende varie. Il luogo era un luogo di difesa ed il canale circolare era proprio un elemente di difesa, proprio come nei castelli medievali, l’unica differenza è che un vero e proprio castello non c’è mai stato, ma era presente un edificio. Oggi il canale d’acqua è sempre li e l’edificio o fortezza è diventato un municipio.

In fact, in the past there was never a castle, but a building or a fortress. In the past, the water channel defended the old building. Now the building has been renovated and has become the town hall
