Bougainvillea is a plant that is very easily found in the Mediterranean area. In my city (Cagliari, Italy) this rustic climber is widely used in gardens and urban parks.
Its spectacular ability to create beautiful splashes of color and the ability to give it many shapes makes this plant a very welcome essence to gardeners.
Its cost is not very high, around 10 euros for a plant of about one meter, and now there are many varieties on the market.

Bougainville is native to tropical areas and was discovered in Brazil in 1768.
She is a very vigorous, colorful and easy to grow climb - she loves full sun and is a really strong plant.
Bougainvillea is often used in fences because it forms a practically impenetrable green wall.
The flower is that small, whitish color and the purple or colored part are not petals, but from the bracts or modified leaves that accompany the flowers or inflorescences.

These three or six bracts can be of various colors of pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white or yellow and are responsible for the very colorful cloud that forms this plant.

In short, the Bougainvillea, whether it is grown under control, or left free to expand, on the ground or in a pot, is a plant capable of giving you great satisfactions.
And if you love this plant, you can make a nice collection with its many varieties which, by now, are easily available in specialized stores.

I have also found some wonderful flowering plants on the Greek islands of Santorini and Mykons and, I must say, they are a very distinctive feature of these sun-loving islands.
