Today I want to tell you about a flower that, in its infinite variety, I have discovered relatively recently.
I refer to the Dahlia. A very common and simple flower to grow and much loved by our grandmothers.
Dahlia among the bulbous flowers is one of the best known for its ease of cultivation, its availability and its remarkable variety and beauty.

Originating in Mexico loves warm and temperate climates and is suitable for cultivation both in pots and in the ground, but needs a fertile soil and rich watering.

Planting from generous and long summer blooms (from July to early autumn) has the flower that can take on different shapes and there are really many colors and varieties of this spectacular flower.
Bulbs that can be planted in our garden or on the terrace will soon be available on the market. They don't cost a lot and their generosity is a lot.

The Dahlia can have the shape of a simple daisy or a globose, and even the shape of the petal can take on various shapes and sizes. Of course, the colors vary from white to yellow to pink or red, but there are also many beautiful varieties.

A show of dahlia can make you appreciate the many varieties and the great beauty of this flower.
As I told you I have always known this flower but, I must say, I have never given the right importance to this beautiful flower.
Then, a few years ago, I went to a park in Merano, a city in northern Italy, and I was able to admire a beautiful collection grown in the ground.
It was then that I was able to admire the dahlia in its incredible variety of shapes and colors.
I had no idea.

Dalia, la collezione del Giardino di Sissi a Merano

Oggi voglio parlarvi di un fiore che, nella sua infinita varietà, ho scoperto in tempi relativamente recenti. Mi riferisco alla Dalia. Un fiore molto comune e semplice da coltivare e molto amato dalle nostre nonne. La dalia tra i fiori bulbosi è una delle più conosciute per la sua facilità di coltivazione, la sua disponibilità e la sua notevole varietà e bellezza.

Originario del Messico ama i climi caldi e temperati ed è adatto alla coltivazione sia in vaso che in piena terra, ma necessita di un terreno fertile e di abbondanti annaffiature. Piantare dalle generose e lunghe fioriture estive (da luglio a inizio autunno) ha il fiore che può assumere diverse forme e sono davvero tanti i colori e le varietà di questo spettacolare fiore. I bulbi che possono essere piantati nel nostro giardino o sul terrazzo saranno presto disponibili sul mercato. Non costano molto e la loro generosità è molta.

La Dalia può avere la forma di una semplice margherita o di una globosa, e anche la forma del petalo può assumere varie forme e dimensioni. Naturalmente i colori variano dal bianco al giallo al rosa o al rosso, ma esistono anche tante belle varietà.

Una mostra di dalia può farvi apprezzare le tante varietà e la grande bellezza di questo fiore.
Come vi dicevo ho sempre conosciuto questo fiore ma, devo dire, non ho mai dato la giusta importanza a questo bel fiore. Poi, qualche anno fa, sono andato in un parco a Merano, una città del nord Italia, e ho potuto ammirare una bellissima collezione coltivata nel terreno. Fu allora che potei ammirare la dalia nella sua incredibile varietà di forme e colori. Non ne avevo idea. Queste sono alcune delle fotografie che ho scattato alle dalie del Giardino di Sisi a Merano. Questa è la mia collezione fotografica.
