Passeggiata ristoratrice alla Riserva di Tor Caldara / Refreshing walk in the Tor Caldara Reserve

Ogni estate vi racconto delle mie passeggiate nella Riserva di Tor Caldara, un' Oasi protetta del WWF nel Comune di Anzio e anche quest' anno non potevo mancare al mio solito racconto!

In realtà per me la Riserva è una sorta di parco cittadino dove vado tutte le volte che posso, un pezzetto di macchia mediterranea preservata dalla cementificazione selvaggia, dove si viene catapultati in un mondo diverso, ricco di natura - animali - suoni e odori rari in città!

All'interno della Riserva oltre ad una natura florida con sugherete e felci millenarie, c'è una solfatara usata già dagli antichi romani, una villa romana che non viene portata alla luce per mancanza di fondi e una Torre d'avvistamento progettata da Michelangelo per difendere la costa laziale dagli attacchi dei saraceni!

Ogni volta che passeggio in questo luogo speciale mi sorprendo di tanta bellezza, pur conoscendolo a memoria c'è sempre qualcosa da scoprire, e soprattutto resta sempre un pochino di amarezza pensando che un tempo al posto delle case costruite selvaggiamente per le vacanze dei romani, qui era tutto natura e mare!

Comunque se doveste capitare da queste parti non perdetevi questa piccola passeggiata, c'è davvero tanto da scoprire, come in tutte le Oasi del WWF d'altronde.

Every summer I tell you about my walks in the Tor Caldare Reserve, a WWF protected oasis in the municipality of Anzio, and this year I couldn't miss my usual tale!

Actually, for me the Reserve is a sort of city park where I go whenever I can, a piece of Mediterranean scrub preserved from wild cementification, where you are catapulted into a different world, rich in nature - animals - sounds and smells rare in the city!

Inside the reserve, in addition to flourishing nature with cork oaks and ferns thousands of years old, there is a solfatara already used by the ancient Romans, a Roman villa that has not been brought to light due to lack of funds, and a watchtower designed by Michelangelo to defend the Latium coast from Saracen attacks!

Every time I walk through this special place I am surprised by so much beauty, even though I know it by heart there is always something to discover, and above all there is always a little bit of bitterness when I think that once, instead of the wildly built holiday homes of the Romans, here it was all nature and sea!

However, if you happen to be in these parts, don't miss this little walk, there really is so much to discover, as in all WWF Oases after all.
