Thinking back to the last two days of holiday

Goodmorning everyone,
The last two days of vacation have flown by. Between baths and culinary whims, time has slipped out of our hands and tomorrow already I will go back to work. I need at least another two weeks of holiday.
Meanwhile, I want to start this post with a photo of the beach we went to yesterday, because it really deserves to be seen.

Having to leave the rented car and take the ferry, we decided to pack up and go to the Portoferraio area in the morning.
And so, we went to Sansone beach, shortly after Portoferraio, a wonderful beach, rather small and always full of people. We moved very calmly, and in fact upon our arrival there was nowhere to put an umbrella and towel. Nowhere.
We put our backpacks in a corner, we undressed and took a bath because the water was too crystalline and inviting - and also because we were feeling very hot, in fact, to get to Samsone beach you have to do a walk a long way under the sun.

In the afternoon I went with the other friends for an exploratory tour underwater with the mask, the seabed is very clear even at meters and meters away and there are many fish.
It was wonderful when, on the way back, a lady started giving to the fish some bread: underwater I literally admired hundreds of fish splashing and gathering to eat. They swam around us, alert but hungry. Too bad I didn't have the camera to take pictures underwater. The scene really deserved numerous shots.

On Friday we went back to Cavo beach, too beautiful not to visit it a second time. We had decided for one day to spend less time at the beach in order to enjoy an aperitif and a quiet dinner.
At around 7 pm we went to Portoazzurro where we booked a vegetarian restaurant we had seen the night before.
We had a couple of very good aperitifs in the most "in" areas and finally we went to the restaurant.
I dusted the appetizer too quickly, but I at least share the photo of the pasta: wholemeal spaghetti with friggitelli, cherry tomatoes and feta. A real treat. The table service is a bit slow, but the dishes are worth it, also the pasta is all hand made.

Yesterday, before taking the ferry, we took another ride to Portoferraio and ate another ice cream at the Zero Gradi ice cream parlor, which I discovered and loved 10 years ago, and now has spread a little throughout the island. In fact, now many bars sell zero gradi ice cream.

Since yesterday evening I regret Rio nell'Elba: it's all in a tiring climb, and in the evening it was practically cold, but how well you slept thanks to that cool! Here, instead, there are 29 degrees even in the evening and the air is much heavier. The slight sunshine taken yesterday from Samsone beach does not help.

Buongiorno a tutti,
Gli ultimi due giorni di vacanza sono volati. Tra bagni e sfizi culinari, il tempo ci è scappato di mano e già domani rientrerò a lavoro. Avrei bisogno almeno di altre due settimane di vacanza.
Voglio intanto iniziare questo post con una foto della spiaggia in cui siamo andati ieri, perché merita davvero tanto.

Dovendo lasciare la macchina noleggiata e prendere il traghetto, abbiamo deciso di far le valigie e andare fin dalla mattina nella zona di Portoferraio.
E così, siamo andati nella spiaggia di Sansone, poco dopo Portoferraio, una spiaggia meravigliosa, piuttosto piccola e sempre piena di persone. Noi ci siamo mossi con grande calma, ed infatti al nostro arrivo non c'era nessun posto dove poter mettere ombrellone e asciugamano. Nessuno.
Abbiamo appoggiato gli zaini in un angolo, ci siamo spogliati ed abbiamo fatto il bagno perché l'acqua era troppo cristallinea ed invitante - ed anche perché eravamo molto accaldati, infatti per arrivare a Sansone occorre fare un bel pezzo a piedi in zone un po' scoscese e sotto il sole.

Nel pomeriggio sono andato con gli altri amici a fare un giro esplorativo sott'acqua con la mascherina, il fondale è limpidissimo anche a metri e metri di distanza e ci sono moltissimi pesci.
È stato bellissimo quando, sulla via del ritorno, una signora si è messa a dare del pane ai pesci: sott'acqua ho ammirato letteralmente centinaia di pesci schizzare e assembrarsi per mangiare. Ci nuotavano intorno, attenti ma famelici. Peccato non aver avuto la macchina per fare le foto sott'acqua. La scena meritava davvero numerosi scatti.

Venerdì invece siamo stati nuovamente a Cavo, troppo bella per non visitarla una seconda volta. Avevamo deciso per un giorno di stare meno tempo al mare per concederci un aperitivo ed una cena in tranquillità.
Verso le 19 siamo andati a Portoazzurro dove abbiamo prenotato in un ristorantino vegetariano adocchiato la sera prima.
Abbiamo fatto un paio di aperitivi molto buoni nelle zone più "in" ed infine siamo andati a cena.
L'antipasto l'ho spolverato troppo velocemente, ma condivido almeno la foto del primo: spaghetti integrali con friggitelli, pomodorini e feta. Una vera delizia. Il servizio al tavolo è un po' lento, ma i piatti ne valgono la pena, la pasta oltretutto è fatta tutta a mano.

Ieri prima di prendere il traghetto ci siamo fatti un altro giro per Portoferraio e mangiato l'ennesimo gelato alla gelateria Zero Gradi, che da quando l'amavo io 10 anni fa, si è allargata un po' in tutta l'isola, tant'è che adesso numerosi bar vendono il gelato di zero gradi.

Già da ieri sera rimpiango Rio nell'Elba: certo è tutto un sali-scendi molto faticoso, e di sera era praticamente freddo, ma come si dormiva bene grazie a quel freschino! Qua invece ci sono 29 gradi anche di sera e l'aria è molto più pesante. La lieve insolazione presa ieri a Sansone non aiuta.
