Visit in Ischia by @papi.mati

Hello, Italy community!

I'm sharing a photo made in 2017 when I visited Europe and made a short trip to Ischia island. As you all probably know, Ischia is located near Naples (what3words location). It's a volcanic type of island, inhabited approximately since 770 B.C.

The island is known mainly for its thermal baths, popular since ancient times. It was built by the Greeks and Romans to help keep the hygiene and restore the energy, especially for the soldiers. Unfortunately, the thermal baths were forgotten. They weren't rediscovered until the Renaissance.

In addition to thermal baths, the island also boasts other attractions. One of the most characteristic is Epomeo - 787 m high mountain formed by volcano eruption (it's not an active volcano though).

It is worth mentioning that we can see small lizards on our way while walking around the island. You shouldn't be afraid of them.

Ischia also has paths, rocks, and white houses that together create a delightful Mediterranean atmosphere.

The castle is the most valuable attraction of the island, it is located on a rocky, volcanic islet connected to the main island of Ischia by the Ponte Aragonese bridge. It is a beautiful monument, built in ancient times.
