My Ancient Family roots in Dipignano, Calabria Italy 🇮🇹

My great grandfather Orazio came from a small town in Southern Italy called Dipignano. It is near Cosenza, in Calabria.

I have never been there and I am doing some family research into my roots in Italy. Orazio came to Canada in 1920 where he started his family and worked for the Canadian Railway. It is difficult to do this research since Orazio was adopted by the Caputo Family when he was a baby. This is the story we are told.

I have done some DNA testing with Family Tree DNA to see if I could find out more about the origins of my family, but so far have not discovered anything new.

I will continue my research and hopefully return to Dipignano some day to learn more about my ancient family roots in Italy.

It looks like a beautiful part of Italy surrounded by beautiful Pine forests. Now I know why I have such a love for Pine trees and have planted many of them here at my home in Canada.

It looks like they even get snow there.... just like Canada.
