✨ UNFORGETTABLE TRIP ✨ WEEK / SETTIMANA #26 ✨

in Italylast year (edited)

Hello friends,

I hope you all are well. Today I am going to share with you some pictures of a trip I went and some details about that place. Last Sunday, I, grandmother, aunt and sister went to Kuragala Temple to worship the relics.

We left here at around 5.30 am. Since we wanted to reach Kuragala before evening, we took the highway. While going to Kuragala temple, we were able to visit 4 other temples. Anyway, when we went to Kuragala temple, it was around 2:00 pm. And we had lunch there.

After having lunch, we joined the queue to worship the relics. At that time, there were not many people in the queue. We stood in line for about 30 or 45 minutes. That was the last day to worship the relics. Buddhists were given the opportunity to worship the relics for 12 days for Vesak. After worshiping the relics, we went to worship the Kuragala chaitya and bo tree. Now I will tell you some details about Kuragala Temple.

This Kuragala temple is located in Balangoda, Ratnapura district of Sabaragamu Province. Kuragala is an ancient forest land and this Kuragala pagoda and Buddha temple were built with the permission of the government. The Buddhists have had to fight with the extremists for more than 50 years to take possession of the Kuragala sacred land, which has more than 200 acres of land.

As a result of those battles, the Buddhists have got the opportunity to worship the Kuragala temple. This Kuragala sanctuary can be known as a place rich in natural resources with a very beautiful and quiet environment.

Entrance of Kuragala temple

This is the entrance to Kuragala Temple. When you go up the steps, the first thing you see is a big lion statue. This huge lion statue was erected to commemorate the saving of this holy place from extremists. As you can see, there are a lot of people at this entrance. These are the people who came to Kooragala to worship the relics on that day.

And the image below shows the inner area where the Bo tree are planted.

This is the relic house where the relics were deposited. Inside there is a very beautiful reliquary. The shield was decorated with gold and gems.

And when you approach the statue of Lord Saman and look down, you can see the fields below. They look very beautiful from see above. And it is very windy in this area. This is because it is located on top of a hill.
