Let me introduce myself, friend. The people of Surakarta, Central Java usually call them Caucasian buffalo.

For the people of Surakarta, Caucasian buffalo are not ordinary livestock, they are considered lucky, aka sacred.

Eiittssss.....not because it's foreign, right? hehe....

Their skin color is different from other buffalo, due to hormonal abnormalities. You could say they are albino buffalo.

They are considered sacred because these Caucasian buffalo have been cared for since the leadership of Hamengku Buwono 2. The descendants of these Caucasian buffalos have produced offspring of up to dozens of heads, you know. Caucasian buffalo are treated very special, there are even people who have a special job of looking after them. Oh yes, regarding the buffalo's vision, it is actually very limited, especially when he sees colors in his vision. They are not like humans who are able to see in three spectrums of colors, namely red, green and blue. This ability to receive three colored respects in humans, is called trichromatic.

Meanwhile, buffalo eyes can only see two color spectrums, or are bichromatic. With gradations of greenish yellow, or greenish blue only. This also applies to animals which are still in the same family as buffalos, such as cows and bulls. Oh yes, it's still about the vision. There is one unique fact, he said because their vision of colors is limited, buffalo are afraid of seeing black or dark colored objects, which are located on the ground which they are going to pass.

As I explained previously, buffalo can only see two color spectrums, aka bichromatic. As a result, buffalo are more sensitive to differences in dark and light. So, when seeing an object that is black or dark, the buffalo will see it as a deep hole. Then the buffalo's brain will send a danger signal, that the black or dark object cannot be stepped on or crossed. Buffaloes are afraid of falling into holes. So it's not magic, it's not magic, but it's reality.

Buffalo is an animal whose part of life is in water. That's why raising buffalo, requires preparing special land for buffalo to soak. Oh yes friends, try paying attention to their horns. Each horn has stripes. For female buffalo, the number of streaks indicates how many times they have given birth. So every time after giving birth to a calf, a streak will appear on its horns. Apart from that, these marks also show their age. The more streaks, the sign is the older age of the buffalo.

In Kudus, buffalo have their own story. There you can find lots of food made from buffalo meat. Starting from Soto, pindang buffalo and buffalo satay. Apparently, this started from the order of Sunan Kudus. The spread of the religion of Islam in the land of Java to maintain tolerance of religious communities. Because many Hindus live in this area, Sunan Kudus requested that the Muslim community not slaughter cows, animals which are sacred by the Hindu community.

So until now buffalo meat is more popular as a daily meal in Kudus.

Greetings always compact.
