Travel Safe - Photography

I was in a taxi today while traveling to visit a friend in a nearby location.

I saw this side mirror of this car and I was stunned by the ruggedly of it.
When the car was filled up and we were about to move, the driver stretched forth his hand and to adjust its position.

I looked into it as I was sitting in the front roll but couldn't see any concrete thing, then I wondered how this driver manages to see it.
