And we come to the bad thing, what happened one Sunday afternoon, shortly before the actual inauguration of that damned tobacco shop, my brother had asked me to be kind enough to go and lend him a hand even on that public holiday, because he needed to deliver the work, I certainly didn't refuse, I was already aware of the person in question, who was looking for any pretext to extend the payments as much as possible, citing the most varied reasons...

We were there, making the final connections, threading the last threads, as my brother handed in that work after just a few days, when hearing the football matches on the radio a legitimate expression of jubilation came out of me, because we had scored 13 points on the scoresheet, achieving the maximum possible score (at the time, they paid 13 and 12), I didn't know exactly how many 12s we had achieved, as the system was conditioned, but at a rough estimate it would have been from 5 to 8 (in fact it was 7), there was no expectation of large odds for the winners, there were no unpredictable results, but in any case it would not have been an insignificant win (the 13th had a share of just over 3 million lire and the 12th of around 200 thousand lire, for which approximately 4 and a half million, to be divided into 10 tranches)...

I remember the shitty face the owner of that tobacco shop made today, he looked at us, contemptuously, as if he had seen some assholes, then, with tones of genuine disgust...

"Look at this, look at these guys (referring to the two of us), how the hell are they, they work, they earn money, they play the ticket, they win, they earn money, it goes there, it goes there, that when you come and ask me for money (pointing the finger at direction of my brother), I know what I have to do, how I have to behave..."

E arriviamo al fattaccio, a quanto successe una domenica pomeriggio, poco prima dell'effettiva inaugurazione di quella maledetta tabaccheria, mio fratello mi aveva chiesto la cortesia di andargli a dare una mano anche in quella giornata festiva, perché aveva necessità di consegnare il lavoro, io non mi rifiutai di certo, ero già a conoscenza del soggetto in questione, che cercava ogni pretesto per allungare i pagamenti il più possibile, adducendo i più svariati motivi...

Eravamo lì, che facevamo gli ultimi collegamenti, infilavamo gli ultimi fili, in quanto mio fratello consegnò quel lavoro dopo pochissimi giorni, quando sentendo le partite di calcio alla radio mi uscì una legittima manifestazione di giubilo, perché avevamo fatto 13 punti in schedina, realizzando il massimo punteggio possibile (all'epoca, pagavano il 13 e il 12), non sapevo perfettamente quanti 12 avessimo realizzato, in quanto il sistema era condizionato, ma ad occhio e croce sarebbero stati dai 5 agli 8 (in effetti furono 7), non c'era da aspettarsi delle grandi quote per i vincitori, non c'erano dei risultati imprevedibili, ma in ogni caso non sarebbe stata una vincita irrisoria (il 13 ebbe una quota di poco più di 3 milioni di lire e il 12 di circa 200 mila lire, per cui circa 4 milioni e mezzo, da dividere in 10 quote)...

Ricordo come fosse oggi stesso la faccia di merda che il titolare di quella tabaccheria fece, ci guardò, in modo sprezzante, come se avesse visto degli stronzi, poi, con toni di autentico disgusto...

"Guarda qua, guarda questi (riferendosi a noi due), come cazzo sono messi, lavorano, guadagnano soldi, giocano la schedina, vincono, guadagnano soldi, va là, va là, che quando vieni a chiedermi i soldi (puntando il dito in direzione di mio fratello), lo so io cosa devo fare, come mi devo comportare..."
