My Italian Diaries: Popular Places in Milan. DUOMO

Today I want to share with you about popular spots in Milan. I have lived in italy for more than 3 years so I got a lot of content about it. This one is about Milan. Milan is hometown of my husband and son so we have special connection to it but I have love and hate relationship with this city.

Oggi voglio parlarvi dei luoghi famosi di Milano. Vivo in italia da più di 3 anni quindi ho ricevuto molti contenuti a riguardo. Questo riguarda Milano. Milano è la città natale di mio marito e mio figlio, quindi abbiamo un legame speciale con essa, ma ho un rapporto di amore e odio con questa città.

There are no ancient ruins of Rome as I love history or romantic canals of Venice. It doesn't even have access to the Mediterranean or Adriatic seas and the climate is not the best in comparison with South of of the country. Milan has long been known as the capital of fashion and style in Italy, but in addition to luxury shopping and fashion shows, there is something to see in Milan.

Non ci sono antiche rovine di Roma perché amo la storia oi romantici canali di Venezia. Non ha nemmeno accesso al Mar Mediterraneo o Adriatico e il clima non è dei migliori rispetto al Sud del paese. Milano è da tempo conosciuta come la capitale della moda e dello stile in Italia, ma oltre allo shopping di lusso e alle sfilate, c'è qualcosa da vedere a Milano.

And we have to start with Duomo. I can show you just outside view that as it was forbidden to take pictures inside. Anyone who ever visited Milan published at least one picture in front of Duomo on their instagram. Please let's admit that Duomo is very photogenic and instagramic.

E dobbiamo iniziare con Duomo. Ve lo posso mostrare solo dall'esterno visto che era proibito fare foto all'interno. Chiunque abbia mai visitato Milano ha pubblicato almeno una foto davanti al Duomo sul proprio instagram. Ammettiamo che il Duomo sia molto fotogenico e instagramico.

Unfortunately, the majority of tourists don't have time to see it clearly, all the small details, every sculpture and every carving. I think to see each piece of it is practically impossible. On the facade and inside this cathedral in Italy there are about 3400 statues.

Sfortunatamente, la maggior parte dei turisti non ha il tempo di vederlo chiaramente, tutti i piccoli dettagli, ogni scultura e ogni intaglio. Penso che vederne ogni pezzo sia praticamente impossibile. Sulla facciata e all'interno di questa cattedrale in Italia ci sono circa 3400 statue.

I bet you can look at the details for a very long time. For example, the doors of Duomo, are like a book, can tell about the life of Jesus Christ in all stages.

Scommetto che puoi guardare i dettagli per molto tempo. Ad esempio, le porte del Duomo, sono come un libro, possono raccontare la vita di Gesù Cristo in tutte le fasi.

I read on Google that it took the city authorities more than 6 centuries (1386-1965) to build one of this enormous church!

The snow-white building is made at the junction of different styles, but the "flaming Gothic" is the predominant of all others . The combination of narrow, sky-directed spiers, elaborate small decor and a large number of statues makes a powerful impression.

I can't describe you enough how impressive this building is. You have to come and see it with your own eyes. That's it for today. I think Duomo deserves a separate post. I will continue kn my next posts.
